About us
CITec GmbH has been active since 1999. We are an experienced, specialized team of civil engineers focused on the electrochemical fundamentals of steel corrosion in concrete. Through an R&D project funded by the BMWi (FUTOUR program), we developed patented tools and procedures for Electrochemical Chloride Extraction (ECE). Since 2001, these have been successfully applied to 46 projects covering a total area of 5,200 m² (as of 2025).
Early applications highlighted the vital role of thorough corrosion diagnostics in determining feasibility, application areas, and success monitoring. Since 2011, this has evolved into a dedicated field of expertise, utilizing advanced electrochemical measurements to provide highly precise assessments of corrosion behavior.
With our expertise, we have advised partners across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, the Netherlands, and Abu Dhabi, helping to develop and implement repair concepts for structures of high national significance.
We regularly present our research and project findings at conferences and in technical publications. Furthermore, we actively contribute to national and international standardization via DIN and CEN and are members of VFIB and EFC/GfKORR. CITec staff are certified to level 3 (DIN EN ISO 15257) and Level 4 (BS EN ISO 15257).
